“Find the courage to do what you have to to be happy in this life” from the Bridges of Madison County struck a chord when I was reading Something More Excavating Your Authentic Self by Sarah Ban Breathnach. Something about Vata season and the end of the year, cold clear weather brings on self reflection. Do the simple work of review. Let go of blocks. Clear out any junk that is in the way of moving into deeper alignment with the purpose and passion that is uniquely you. Take time to take the long view. Set goals and make plans. Align with the larger rhythm of life and anchor into our dharma and live in passion & joy.
Some People come into this world with a clear sense of purpose from an early age. You see people doing what they were born to do and it is wonderful. For others it is a journey to identify and align with their dharma, or life’s purpose.
It is so easy to get mired in should, guilt, grief or stress and overwhelm and miss the opportunities of your life to explore and grow. Earth is a school and embodiment a tool to learn from sensation and contrast. Instead of stress or fear, bring awareness to your choices. Live in passion & joy through alignment with purpose and expanding your spirit.
What does this mean to you? It means life of wellness and learning and contribution to me. Feel loss, experience the challenge, but somehow move through with the learning of that moment, and release the struggle. Clear Space. Identify what sparks joy. Make the Changes necessary to live a happy life.

2016 5 Key Learnings to Live in Passion & Joy
- Life takes longer than you expect and that is not a reason to get frustrated. Anything substantial takes time. Spend more time deciding what to do, so the time is well spent. Stay present and look at the learning instead.
- Fear and jealousy shrink your world and shift your focus in terrible ways. Model from the skill and brightness of others. Connect to spirit and your own inherent value to expand back into the light.
- If you believe persevere. Keep trying different approaches until you overcome push back from the universe.
- Find Reasons to relax and laugh in the moment. Loosen your grip on life a little.
- Loving as a go to attitude imbues joy in the good times and buoyancy in the tough ones. Connect to loving daily.
What is on your list?
This time of year is perfect to plug in a little and examine your feelings about the year past. What do you need to let go of? Identify some key learning? List 3 to 5 or realizations or areas of growth. Celebrate the successes and growth in your life. This is an essential form of self care.
Self Care, gives you the platform to find and develop your passion. The more you prioritize and automate self care the more space you create for understanding and awareness of what is truly important to you. This loop builds clarity, space and opportunity to change and grow.
Change takes courage. It is risky to put yourself out there, start anew, end a dysfunctional relationship or move across the country to work in a field close to your heart. Change is a normal part of life and growth. Courage is a muscle that gets stronger with practice. Get the support you need to find and touch the courage of your spirit. You won’t believe what is on your list next year.
