Season change is a great time to pamper a little.  In the Northern hemisphere we have transitioned from summer into fall.    Pamper your parts to release the latent heat of pitta season as the dryness of vata season begins to dominate.  Click this link to look at the Seasons Ayurveda Style. In New England there has been a lack of rain.  We are way below average, so dryness is more evident.  Here are eleven pampers focus on easing dryness and releasing heat as you move into fall.

Pamper your Body

Feet 

Pamper your parts with a foot massageTake care of your tooties with a Foot Massage.  Feet take a beating during the summer months, lots of outdoor activities  in flip flops.  As the nights get colder your feet may need some pampering.

Grab a tennis ball, some Coconut oil and an old pair of warm socks for this pamper.  At the end of your day, roll your feet out in Tadasana(mountain pose).  Do this on a mat or rug for best effect.   In bed rub your feet with oil warming them and stimulating circulation.  Slip on socks so you can sleep with toasty tootsies.

Legs

Reverse the flow of gravity and help move lymph.  Viparti Karini or legs up the Wall is a lovely way to release heat and tension from your legs and low back.

Belly

Detox your digestive track.

Pitta lives in the small intestine.  The heat of pitta intensifies or goes out of balance from that place.  Cool things off.  Do a detox this fall or at least schedule some living liquid eating days and meals.  Less food once in a while builds agni.  Pamper and build your digestive fire this way to feel clear and fabulous

Skin

Take a Sauna . Sweating is a natural detox pathway for your skin.  Sweat out the toxins that accumulated over the summer.  Health Clubs and Spa have sauna options.  Swedana, sweat therapy is a traditional treatment in Ayurveda.   Be sure to drink water to hydrate to refill your fluids.

Pamper your Mind

Nerves

Add some pranayama like Alternate Nostril Breathing. The busyness of fall can over stimulate our nervous systems.  Take 5 minutes to slow down and breathe.  Nadi Shodhana  is a soothing pranayama practice that is calming and balancing.

Mind

Meditation for your Mind, Nothing chills out your mental chatter like meditation.  A short morning practice can help you think more clearly, and sleep more easily.  There are many forms of meditation silence, breathing, mantra, guided.  Pick the form you naturally connect to.

 

Pamper your Senses

Eyes

Eyes can also hold pitta.  Relax your Eyes.  Soak two organic cotton pads in Rose Water   Lay down and close your eyes and cover your eye sockets for 15 minutes.  Rose not your thing, try 2 organic chamomile and Lavender tea bags that have been thoroughly soaked and are cool to the touch.  Both options are soothe and release heat so you can appreciate the beautiful sights of fall.

Teeth & Gums

Pamper your parts oil pull to clean up your teeth and gumsAdd Oil pulling to your morning routine, to lubricate and clean your mouth.  Coconut oil oil pulling will really release heat and toxins from the teeth and gums.

Tongue

Scrape your tongue each morning to clear out plaque and ama before you start your day.  So fast and feels so good and clarifies your sense of taste.

Nose

Apply organic sesame  oil to your pinky finger and circle the inside of each nostril to apply the oil.  Try this twice a day to moisturize your nostrils and bring ease to your breath.

Voice

Clear your voice with a 1 minute chant … AH…… multiple times each day. This can help clear out surpressed anger and heat.  Get in touch with your voice and perhaps your truth.
