Last weekend I went out to the Berkshires for a Lyme community support meeting. Western Massachusetts is feeling the effects of tick-borne illness, and Lyme Alliance of the Berkshires (LAB) provides stalwart support and up to date information to help their members. Dr. Art Gertler was the guest speaker. He came to share info on new treatment options that are helping his patients.
Dr. Art Gertler MD is board certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine. He has thirty years of clinical experience. A Lyme literate physician, Dr. Gertler is trained in a holistic approach to Lyme disease. He sees patients out of the D’Arcy Clinic in Natick, Massachusetts.
Dr. Art is continually reviewing the literature looking for new options to support his Lyme disease patients. Patient welfare and success in recovering their health drives him to learn and try new approaches as they become available. Dr. Art shares information with Lyme community support groups freely. His dogged persistence is paying benefits.
Dr. Art first discussed Lyme testing problems. He then reviewed traditional antibiotic treatments, the successes, side effects, and emphasized the need to work with a Lyme literate physician. After a thorough review of standard treatments, he shared several new options with the group.
Four New Treatment Ideas Shared By Dr. Art
Lymplex plus
Lymplex plus is a product of a fermentation reaction of extremophile bacteria. The enzymes these bugs make to protect themselves are collected. You take them to help knock down pathogenic bacteria like Lyme and coinfections. Bacteria have been defending themselves with antibacterial agents much longer than we have. They have learned a thing or two that may help us.
Orasal
Orasal is part of an approach that helps your immune system go after bad bugs including Lyme. Three products work in combination to support enhanced immune system response to borrellia bacteria responsible for Lyme disease.
Rife Machine
A Rife Machine delivers a form of energy medicine. In the 1920s, Royal Raymond Rife developed the Rife machine to use specific frequencies to help people heal. He worked with terminal cancer patients and saved lives.
There is now a library of frequencies for use on tick-borne pathogens, symptoms and recovery functions, like liver detoxification and inflammation control. There are many versions of this device on the market. Rife is not approved by the FDA as a medical device or treatment. Here is the one I have used with some success to lessen inflammation pain and support detoxification.
Energy Medicine
Meditation, Prayer, Intention, Drumming circles have all seen their share of success. Everyone can benefit from healing circle work in support groups. Studies confirm meditation’s ability to help manage chronic pain. Meditation is an essential part of my healthcare tool kit. I know at my sickest mindfulness was my anchor.
One form of intentional healing, new to me is an approach called the Power of Eight based on the Intention Experiment and The Power of Eight by Lynn McTaggart. It is a form of group meditation.
Plug Into Lyme Community Support
Congratulations to the Lyme Alliance of the Berkshires for all the good work they do in their community. Support groups started by Lyme survivors meet all across New England, find one like LAB that can benefit you. Be sure any group you join is about sharing, learning, and healing. Stay away from groups who stay focused on the pain and difficulty.
If you need help navigating the uncertainties of Lyme disease, try a community like Lyme Alliance of the Berkshires. LAB members can give you options, ideas and direct you to Lyme literate resources like Dr. Art Gertler. With Lyme disease information is power, learn from people who are ahead of you in their healing journey. Help others when you are able.
