Was your glass half full or half empty this year?

This is my way of asking, did you have a year full of optimism joy and hope, or not so much. Terrible violence and hatred was evidenced in the news, both in this country and abroad, but also amazing good.

Were you able to tether to the good?  An Optimistic or Pessimistic point of view is a very influential filter through which we see the world.  I want my glass even more than half full!Tap into the optimism in me to see the glass full

I study with teachers who believe in a daily routine and a daily review to leverage time and align with best self. They teach habits that support these practices, with because they work. These habits provide a framework to navigate a path of physical health and spiritual growth in this world.

I have tremendous appreciation for my two main teachers Cate Stillman and Ellen Tadd.  Appreciation is a practice that I in my toolbox.  Optimism is something I want to add.

What  is a new practices I need to embrace more fully?  Think, I look back and look forward for perspective and to plan. Optimism is definitely on top of the list.  There is a gap between appreciation of what is and optimism for what might be in my life that needs closing.

How about you?  Join me and Opt in.

Is the glass half full as you look forward? Full of appreciation for the gifts in  life. There is a lot going on and perhaps a lot to worry about, but I believe in aligning with the universe and letting go of as much worry as I can. Yet, that still doesn’t fill the gap and get to optimism. So………….

The main practice I am committing to this year is optimism.   A consistent practice to shift my perspective to the positive and raise my vibration. Are you naturally optimistic most of the time? For some optimism is as easy as breathing.  For the rest of us it is a practice to learn and a skill to hone.

Here is an exercise to get in touch with your optimism, your ebullient self.Gorgeous sunrise a way in to optimism

Close your eyes, and just breathe in and out through your nose three times, nice and slow. Bring to your mind an experience or view you find inspiring. Your first view of your child, a hawk circling in the sky,  a beautiful sunrise over the ocean, or a field of wild flowers, inspiration is very individual.

Look inward from inspiration to find the bubble of optimism that is deep within, the parts of your life that bring you and others joy and hope. Tune in for a little while and listen. What is the message?   From that space journal a bit or write a list.

What are your plans and dreams for 2016? Do you have the self care tools and habits in place to launch your dreams into reality?

A daily practice of connecting to what inspires you and unearths your optimistic self is a quick exercise to engage with your highest nature, your best self. Here is a link with additional practices to build an optimistic outlook for 2016.
