Who is on your team and how do they help you reclaim your life?  Do you need  team support for your recovery from Lyme disease?  Many people do, I did. So many things were going awry all at once, it was way more than me and my primary care doctor  could handle.  So I built a team to help me.

I know that many people with tick borne illnesses see multiple MD before they find someone who can help them.  These people are not teammates.  They are the folks who tried out for the team but didn’t make the cut.  Not to say anything bad, they just don’t fit what you need on your roster.

Knotweed given by my herbalist is on my support team I listed my team here as an example, your team may be much smaller or larger and have different players based on how your body deals with Lyme. Who is on your team and how often you interact will change as you progress on your healing journey.

My Team Support for Lyme

  1. Me – I am the owner and manager. The buck stops with me.  I am also the Director of Communications.  I am responsible to make sure information is flowing.  My role is the most important on my team.  I decide who makes the cut. I pick the people and specialities who can work together in my best interest.
  2. Primary care doc – I still have to take care of all the stuff that has nothing to do with Lyme disease and coinfections.  Get regular check ups and tests while I am healing.
  3. Dentist – Take care of my teeth. Lyme actually can go after your teeth, so this is important.
  4. Ondamed – Is Energy Medicine. Initially I went every week it really helped me manage my pain with less drugs.  Now I go once or twice a month for ongoing support.
  5. Lyme Literate Functional Medicine – In the beginning I saw this person often, now it is once a year.
  6. Herbalist I get symptom and support herbs, I connect in when I need something. You may have a naturopath or Chinese medicine practitioner instead.
  7. Chiropractor Twice a month to support my nervous system and back alignmentTeam support includes a massage therapist.
  8. X Tract Lymph Massage Monthly or Seasonally to help me detox
  9. Pilates Teacher Initially weekly to rebuild strength
  10. Yoga Therapist & Teacher Weekly for joint support and flexibility
  11. Reiki Master I go to a reiki for help with pain and stress release.
  12. My husband family and 2 best friends who listen and advise with love.

The Challenges of Team Support

There are some challenges to working with a bunch of people at one time.  Who is in charge? I believe I have ultimate responsibility for my life, so I am in charge.  I know other people appoint their MD or their Lyme literate MD to manage things, and this is great.  Someone has to drive the team bus otherwise you can lose track of the destination of evolving health.

Idea overwhelm can also be an issue.  There are only so many hours in a day and so many pills anyone can tolerate.  As a patient I have to help them design a treatment strategy that I can follow.  If  I can’t or won’t take pills 5 times a day. It is silly to agree to a protocol that requires that.

Everyone sends a bill.  All this support costs, but for me it was the best money I ever spent.  Between the team members, tests meds and supplements it was a lot of money time and energy.  Now it is much less

A Healing Team Has Lots of Benefits

This may seem overwhelming. Building fantastic team support can be really beneficial.  I tapped into expert help that was not be available through my MD alone.  I treated the infection, addressed symptoms, and started rebuilding at the same time resulting in a faster recovery.

One on One or Team support, get the treatment you need to feel better and heal.
