The Power of Help Works For Lyme And Beyond.

Lyme is complicated and there is may be a lot of things to sort through, treat and heal for you to get better.  Lyme unfortunately often takes more than a simple doctor’s visit and a prescription to get under control. Ask for a referral to a Lyme specialist, someone who can see through the trees to the light and help you chart and stay on a course. It is normal to need a lot of help with a complicated illness.  Ask for what you need.

The power of help works for Lyme disease and  beyond.  I recently won a prize for blogging for being easy to work with.  The prize was that an editor would review my site and make suggestions to improve my clarity and reach. Even after I won, I didn’t push to get it scheduled.  Thankfully my editor did. The suggestions were powerful, helpful and brought up things that I hadn’t even considered. It turned on a light about potential to have more impact and help more people with what I do. This experience was a wake up call for me about reaching out for and accepting help.

Are You Reluctant To Reach Out?

I have been my whole life.  Generally I have to confess I don’t ask for help, even when I need it.  I used to think of self sufficiency as a strength.  Now I know my sense of self sufficiency is a lie my ego tells me. Everyone needs help and accepting this one of my growing edges.

Lyme has taught me that and much more.  A whole team of people helped me learn and heal. I am working on recognizing, when I need help or when it would add value, then reaching out with that knowledge to obtain the support I need to move forward. Do you hesitate to reach out for help?

“Regardless of what challenge you are facing right now, know that it has not come to stay. It has come to pass. During these times, do what you can with what you have, and ask for help if needed. Most importantly, never surrender. Put things in perspective. Take care of yourself. Find ways to replenish your energy, strengthen your faith and fortify yourself from the inside out.”  Les Brown
