Meditate to work through Regret Meditation to Examine & Move through Regret

I commit to “Meditation and Philosophy Class” one day a month for 9 months each year with Ellen Tadd.  Time extremely well spent.   Ellen teaches us to use meditation in an active way to engage with life from a spiritual perspective.   This month was all about examining regret and sorrow to move through regret to learning.

Over 10 years in the class and I am amazed, I still want to go, I am still learning.  The group meditation really empowers my personal practice. The lessons have opened my understanding of myself and my purpose in this life.

Ellen helped me to address challenges, like Lyme disease in a proactive way.  I so appreciate being a lifelong learner, it has helped me heal and opened and expanded my experience of the world.

Lessons from the Past

This month we worked on regret in class.   Ellen shared about digging into and benefiting from the lessons in our life. Quit being sorry for life!  Physical Embodiment is a school for us to learn from contrast.  Here we all get to use experience to leverage growth.  All the decisions of the past accumulate to create present experience so seize the opportunity to grow.

“Has this world been so kind to you that you should leave with regret? There are better things ahead than any we leave behind.” C. S. Lewis

Don’t live in the past, but think of it as a reservoir of learning.  Befriend it.   Review is a great way to dive in. Look back at your choices, your motivation and results.  Take memories and examine them actively.  Not to wallow in regret, but rather to create a better future.  What I mean by better is choices consistently made in attunement rather than in fear.  Choice ripples out in our reality opening opportunities for us to actualize our spiritual nature.

Find attunement in meditation and on the go by connecting in with the center of spiritual wisdom the 3rd eye.  Check yourself regularly to see what is motivating your response.  Fear as a motivator makes our world smaller and cuts off opportunities the universe gives us to learn.  Clarity is  what I am working to sustain and choose from.

Stay current.  Process emotions in a way that prevents toxic build up of fear, regret sorrow and sadness in our mind and in our cells. Take a moment at the end of your day to review embrace the learning and release the rest.   Regret leads to stuckness and shuts down possibilities.

Why do we Regret the Past?

Regrets from the past often mean we didn’t get what we want or things didn’t turn out as planned.  Maybe we caused pain to others or to our self.   In every circumstance we get what we need to learn and grow.  I know that some of the more challenging aspects of my life have speared the most evolution. Loss of a job in the moment seems like a disaster, but I am so much better off for the change. I get Lyme disease and totally have to learn about and build up health.  The universe keeps giving me opportunities to grow.

 Review Learning Steps

  1. Look Back Regularly Daily Review is easiest
  2. Accept the reality of what happened and meditate to release regret, fear and other negative emotions.
  3. Learn, how  and why did I make this decision?  Did I Respond in Clarity or react in Fear?
  4. Apply the learning moving forward in daily life.   Stay Current.

Clear attuned choices promote our best learning opportunities.

We all need to tap into  the deep inner sense of security and find our inherent value..  Stay in touch with the truth of our nature and our spirit regardless of external circumstances.

Ellen has a new book out that is on my must read list.  The Infinite View  by  Ellen Tadd goes deeply into a spiritual approach to life.  I have it on pre-order and I can’t wait.

Ellen says we get the lessons we need to grow out of karmic patterns and actualize our spirit.  What is the universe putting in your path?
