Several years ago, I heard something that rocked me to my core. My spiritual teacher told me I had an unhealthy attachment, a hunger to heal from Lyme disease. I needed to live and love life despite my Lyme disease. My hunger for healing, my will to stay focused might be hurting me. Could it be possible that my focus on life needed a reboot?
When I thought about this I realized that healing from Lyme was the most crucial thing in my life, and if I just stay focused, things would get better. But all that did was make my life small. The media focus on the Corona Virus jogs fear with similar intensity to Lyme. I want no unnecessary detours on my journey to reclaim my life after Lyme disease.
Live And Love Life Strategies For Lyme Or A Pandemic
In both cases, I needed to move my energy off of fear and struggle. Follow guidelines like “Shelter in place”, practice social distancing, take my medicines and supplements. Act in a wise way, and acknowledge the fact that I just don’t have control of everything.
Too much focus on battling sucks the energy out of me. As a result, I miss living my life. Feeling good every day was an elusive goal that gnawed at me and a crutch that kept me from living fully with Lyme. Staying safe has been taking substantial emotional energy reserves as the pandemic spread across the world.
Once I recognized the connection between my reaction to Lyme disease and Covid 19, I knew I needed to shift my focus once more. Desiring and intending to heal or stay safe without attachment, is one thing. Bust desperate craving is another. A constant state of disappointment because of aches pains or a feeling unsafe for days or months are no ways to travel. Life experience gives us bumps, bruises, scars, infections, and even loss of parts; it is what we learn and do that matters. Lifelong learning, spiritual growth, and helping others to care for themselves, are on my list. What is on your desire list?
“The tests we face in life’s journey are not to reveal our weaknesses but to help us discover our inner strengths. We can only know how strong we are when we strive and thrive beyond the challenges we face.”

Spiritual Recovery Live and Love Life On A Healing Journey
Given what is what are you going to do? My meditation teacher Ellen Tadd asked this, to move me out of reaction and help me remember I always have a choice. Given what is what am I going to do is a question I often ask myself. Today the answer is stop struggling with what is and live and love my life. How I feel may shape my actions today, but nothing even the Corona virus is permanent. So I need to be more consistent in my self-care, all the activities that I know make me feel my best and follow my desires.
Desire Intend and Strive without Attachment
Get clear of distractions and discover your desire. In recovery, you may not have the energy and endurance to spend on non-important things. You may want to understand the current shelter in place guidelines, or best tick protection strategies, but not spend all day listening to pandemic details. Allocate your energy to your job, charity work, your family, whatever lights you up, and supports your wellness. Pay attention the little and large things that bring you joy and bring your creative energy to bear.
Choose to create
Create rather than tear down. Creative energy aligns with consciousness in a positive way that puts your body in a hormonal environment that supports wellness. Creating builds your expertise muscles in whatever you choose to pursue. Time and effort are great teachers. Creating is fun and engages your energy and attention. Write, garden, paint, find what you want to create and lean in to manifest.
Keep Your Approach Playful
Create from a playful place to promote happiness and satisfaction. Strive without pressure. Stress is bad news for health. I think of it as the anti-wellness state, so keep your perspective playful to prevent stress overwhelm. We all succeed and fail as we grow. Both are likely, so we might as well enjoy ourselves.
Stay Positive
Look for the opportunities in what you do. Awareness is very different than negativity. Positivity opens the way to ideas and beneficial change. If a full brain is dis-empowering you, take a minute every day to listen to and adjust the tone of your internal commentary to be optimistic and empowering.
Lyme and Corona-virus both pathogens that create disruptions in our lives. This too shall pass if we follow our desires and stay present with what is. Live and love life maybe the most important way to stay connected with the truth of our nature as changes continue.
