During Treatment of chronic Lyme disease symptom load can vary, sometimes I felt lousy other times pretty good. Lyme lessons hit me over the head like a two by four. I worried, I couldn’t depend on myself. I have to pay attention and evolve my own wellness.
The symptom load from chronic Lyme actively encouraged me to make better choices, to address symptoms until it became a habit, part of my operating system. Make conscious decisions each day to help uplevel my wellness.
My life and lifestyle choices changed dramatically from Lyme and in recovery. I am okay with that and better for it. Life is about navigating change with grace.
How have your daily choices changed from Lyme Disease?
Long before my diagnosis and treatment, I knew I felt overwhelmed and exhausted. I had no idea why. My choices did not allow me to foster wellness or build capacity. I bought hook line and sinker into the notion that I was just weak and unable to manage a full life.
Then after years I found out about my Lyme Disease. It felt terrible to have to say no to friends and family, skip the movie or concert, let others help move the furniture or host the party. I thought my future was pretty limited and bleak. I felt Lyme symptoms every day, but I didn’t understand Lyme’s lessons and opportunities.
Now I do, I am better and have a great future. While I probably won’t be starting a furniture moving company any time soon, there are plenty of things to do and explore. I know I need to take it easy. And I understand the wellspring of strength in me waiting to be tapped. I see the learning opportunities in Lyme to help me grow.
Lyme Lessons Make new choices
Make new choices for a healthier life after Lyme. Make my social schedule is lighter. Leave white space in my calendar. Take more time to sleep and to take care of myself. When I think of the way I used to run myself ragged, I laugh. My ego was in the driver’s seat and my body paid a big price. When I got Lyme I had a chronic yeast problem. In addition, I was anxious angry, overweight, and exhausted in other words a prime target for Lyme and co-infections to settle in for a long visit.

- Notice, engage and enjoy the feel good days,
- Be compassionate with myself on the feel bad ones.
- Don’t make overextended my norm.

- Get help when you need it.
With help and self care, I feel blessed to have my life. While I won’t break any endurance records yet, I fill my day with things that matter to me, self care, exercise my job, friends and family.
As I add back to my schedule I check in. Does this feel good for me and my body? Old egoic workaholic habits die hard so it is like walking a tight rope. Lyme symptoms remind me if I forget.
Asking questions and Lyme symptoms for feedback help me make better choices. I have clearer sense of self and a deeper awareness of my path to become my best self. Chronic Lyme is a unique opportunity to wipe the slate, make choices build strength and enjoy life.
