Don’t get me wrong, I am pleased to know that I am on the road to wellness from chronic Lyme. I do my self care, oil massage, baths, saunas, my affirmations and meditation and walk 2 to 5 miles each day and try to stay on schedule with all my medicines and herbs. I am pretty surprised that I get all this done and some work too!
Why am I on the road to wellness rather than well? Whenever I am stuck, whether it’s with Lyme or writing or on other parts of my path, I need to examine the pause and move forward. Intellectually I understand that the road to recovery from Lyme disease is often not short or straight.
Emotionally I struggle a bit more. The child in me thinks this is a tit for tat deal and if I do everything I am supposed to I should be well.
Those kind of thoughts tell me I need to stop and breathe and appreciate the learning and the moment. Say Yeah that I realized that I feel stuck rather than wallowing for a few weeks. Then I need to take action to lovingly unstick myself.
Get Moving Again On The Road To Wellness
1. Appreciate the progress I have made, to the point of making a list of 6 months ago versus today. Thank my lucky stars for every item that is further on the road to wellness. I make a chart of what I weigh, how far I walk each day, my activity levels, my pain levels. The chart always gives me a more accurate picture of my progress than my feelings on any given day. Almost every time I see someone I haven’t seen in a while, they say how amazing and well I look.
2. Identify my thoughts that are making me feel stuck and turn them toward positive progress. Make a practice of affirming what is right and good in my day and my health, rather than focus on transient symptoms. Check out this link on affirmations.
3. Do some joyful or fun things to lift my spirit. Go outside for a walk, or to a local farm to pick fruit, go to a movie, read a good book, drink tea with friends. Tap into free support resources on the web. Focus on improving my mood more than things that are less important.
4. Turn to the tools that work for me. My Daily routine, sleep healthful food, meditation, exercise and joy are my favorite tools in my wellness arsenal. Check out this link for some meditation options
5. Reach out to the healthcare support team I have in place to see if I need to make changes. I tune into my intuition to see if I need extra detox, or massage an adjustment in meds, or herbs or extra chiropractic adjustment.
6. Maintain the selfcare practices that I know will help. Feeling poorly or treading water cannot be an excuse to backslide away from what I know if good for me.
7. Believe that I am strong and able to help, heal myself and build my life full of joy.
8. Tap into Loving Kindness towards myself and my family.
Living Vibrantly Helps You Heal
Living vibrantly in the pulse and flow of health and illness and learning is a process. But they say once you have learned it all you don’t need to be here anymore, so I figure I better enjoy myself and keep learning! Stay on the road to wellness and see where it leads.
