Since Lyme, I tend to be pretty careful about staying well. I am over feeling sick all the time. But this week I got a virus. Nothing to do with Lyme disease, but it took me down. I am still down, housebound with sore throat, mild fever aches and pains. This infection gave me a wake up call about my overall state of wellness post Lyme disease.
What do I mean by a wake up call? Well this infection highlighted weak spots in my health I tend to ignore. I sometimes feel at my limit for self care and living balance, so I ignore things I probably shouldn’t. The balance in part comes from enough structure, supplements and exercises to have the capability to do what is really important. My response to this infection sent a strong message to check in and work on the problems. After all life has a way of taking you out of your comfort zone and I want more resiliency.
How about you? Do you have organs and systems post Lyme that don’t get the extra loving care and attention they need? I do.
Balance Out Of Kilter
My balance is still off, one of the reasons I am staying close to home. I would fail the drunk drivers walk a straight line test. The walls are everywhere. This all came up post infection and is calming down, but jeeze, I want the walls to stay put as I walk down the hall without having to touch them. Marching in the dark is a new activity to support balance recovery.
Loose & Painful Joints
When I went to bed and rolled over, I thought my hips might separate and one stay where it was. I have heard women describe this sensation just after giving birth, but before the other night I never understood quite what they meant.
Stronger healthier joints feels like a really good idea right now. I am drinking bone broth and going back to daily joint support.
Wake Up Call
Sometimes you need to shift the comfortable box you live in to get a reality check. A kick ass virus is my most recent call to action to address residual functional issues from Lyme disease. Weaknesses were brought into the light where they can get attention.
There is one consolation in being sick; and that is the possibility that you may recover to a better state than you were ever in before.
